Qimen Spells and Rituals

Within the Qimen tradition, there are numerous esoteric arts and secret methods.

The universe is composed of yin (feminine, passive) and yang (masculine, active) matter, and it is the yin matter that dominates all changes within the universe. Qimen spells and rituals encompass a multitude of esoteric arts and secret methods from within the Qimen tradition. These secret methods, with their miraculous effects and incredible energy, have created one miracle after another in a short time, unleashing people’s potential to a certain limit. This magical power, which surpasses ordinary people’s imagination, originates from the universe. As individuals, humans are insignificant, but as a part of the universal cosmic system, they possess an innate imaginative power. Imagination is also a form of power. Once this power is triggered, it generates an extraordinary momentum and force.

Historical Development

Chinese culture has evolved for thousands of years, and Qimen spells and rituals have always stood at the forefront of various esoteric arts due to their practicality and widespread use, making them deeply popular. At the same time, Qimen spells have integrated one of the most representative Chinese esoteric arts, Qimen spells. The linear energy manifested by Qimen spells can quickly and accurately deliver energy to its intended place, and when it merges with the field energy of Qimen spells, it forms a unique and more approachable Qimen spell field. The fundamental purpose of this field is to help the world, save people, and improve their luck and destiny. Those with strong selfish desires or malevolent intentions cannot communicate with or enter this Qimen spell field. Acting recklessly will only bring endless disaster. Therefore, those who wish to practice these spells must first find a true master before learning the art.

There is a saying in Qimen philosophy: “The true secrets of Qimen exist, but do not blindly wander; cultivation is not done in a day, and the Tao is not easily attained.”

This means that as Qimen is a shortcut to communicate with the universe, there are indeed many true transmissions and methods. However, if a person tries to enter the practice without a master, hearing or seeing just one or two techniques and then making baseless assumptions and empty speculations, they are likely to end up harming themselves instead of others. It is precisely because of the authority and targeted nature of Qimen spells that the saying “do not blindly wander” is repeatedly emphasized. Those who genuinely want to learn must follow the required steps, methods, and techniques, from finding a master to receiving the teachings, progressing step by step to achieve the highest state of union between heaven and human. Most higher practitioners of QMDJ who master Qimen arts live a reclusive life. They will only used it on improving their life and these around them.

Classification

The Tao and its methods have been integrated for thousands of years, but how many people can recognize their true nature? Qimen spells and rituals are divided into two types: tangible and intangible. The tangible part is the written Qimen Dunjia divination art. The intangible Qimen Dunjia spells include various incantations, secret formulas, talismans, and rituals. These organic components must be memorized and understood perfectly to be qualified to enter the cultivation of the intangible level. The intangible Qimen spells can be used to control, gather, and disperse various yin spirit fields and divine spirit fields from the universe for one’s own use. This power to control is granted by the universe, similar to how human communication works. Through a person’s name, place of origin, address, and other information, an individual is located and authenticated as a basis and proof for participating in social activities, meaning the state and society acknowledge your existence.

It is the same in the universe; every information field has corresponding talisman codes, sound wave codes, graphical codes, and mental codes. These codes can be used at any time as long as they do not violate the corresponding universal cycle. Generally speaking, knowing these principles indicates a deep predestined connection. To master them, one must possess a certain level of cultivation, because the cosmic information energy is like a heavy object, and one’s cultivation is the strength needed to lift it. If the strength is insufficient, not only can the object not be lifted, but it can also cause self-harm. Therefore, this type of spell is not suitable for everyone.

Cultivation Qualifications

Must have profound cultivation.

Must have a pure heart and never harm living beings.

Must have a sense of mission and be willing to give.

Most importantly, must respect the master and the Tao.

Must strictly adhere to the rules of the school.

Must accumulate merit and virtue.

There are not many people who truly meet these conditions. However, even for those who do not, Qimen spells will open doors of convenience for those who are destined, allowing them to master some spells that are beneficial to themselves. As for spells that can break or harm opponents, they are reserved for a select few.

Qimen has 3,600 spell gateways, which are further divided into major and minor gateways, and these are categorized into three grades: high, medium, and low. The commonly used types of Qimen spells include:

Jade Maiden Reverse-Closing Ritual

The text says: When using the Three-Yuan Nine-Palace Dunjia, if there are no Three Wonders or auspicious gates, one should not travel. Instead, one should use the Jade Maiden Reverse-Closing Ritual to leave.

The text says: The Reverse-Closing Avoidance is performed as follows: six feet in a room, six steps in a courtyard, and sixty steps in the wilderness. All use the number six. Once the number is set, one takes six counting rods, each one foot three inches long, in the left hand. With the right hand, one inhales the King’s energy, clenches the teeth twelve times, and then prays in one’s heart for a certain matter. Then, one turns their back to the King’s energy. A respectful request to the Heavenly Father and Earth Mother, the Six Jia and Six Ding, the Twelve Hours, the Green Dragon, the Peng Star, the Mingtang, the Heavenly Jade Maiden, and the Six Wu Hidden Form Gods. “I am fond of the art of immortality, and I do not choose the day for travel or inquire about the hour for departure. I now wish to travel for a certain matter, and I respectfully pray to the great matter. I follow the celestial patterns and ask the Jade Maiden to draw the ground formation, to exit through the Heaven Gate and enter through the Earth Door, to close the Golden Pass, and to ride the Jade Chariot. Jade Maiden, Green Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise, Gouteng, Liuhe, Six Jia Gods, Twelve Hour Gods, please ride with me. Wherever I go, you will patrol left and right, accompanying me as I walk, stop, lie down, or get up. Drive away thieves and ghosts. When gentlemen see me, they will be filled with joy. When petty people see me, they will be fearful and trembling. When men and women see me, they will serve me with wine and food. All evil ghosts and thieves who oppose me will perish. Today, I perform the Yu Step, which corresponds to the celestial canopy. With the Jade Maiden at my side, all misfortunes are dispelled, all spirits are suppressed, and wherever I go, there will be no disaster. All diseases will be healed, all offerings will be received, all attacks will be broken, all requests will be granted, and all wishes will be fulfilled. Emperors, ministers, high-ranking officials, and magistrates will love me as their own child. Today, I summon the great Jade Maiden to protect me as I enter the formation.”

Another incantation says: “The Five represent the Eyes of Heaven, following Heaven. My eyes are like brilliant lightning, illuminating the eight extremes, penetrating inside and out, so that nothing is unseen. All rebellious and harmful beings will be destroyed. Under the Kui and Gang constellations, nothing can move or act. Hurry, hurry, as commanded by the law!”

Summoning Gods to Enter the Formation

If a person cultivates with a sincere heart, they can align the universe with the Three-Platform Nine-Palace, use the Four Verticals and Five Horizontals and the Yu Step to exit the Heaven Gate and enter the Earth Door. Thinking of the heavenly cauldron and imagining the gods protecting them, they then focus their mind on the Tao. With a single, focused thought, all things become like emptiness. One knows there is something, but does not know how that something came into being. This is a great achievement. The text says: The right hand asks for blessings from Heaven. The Six Jia and Six Ding carry the victory. The Elder Yu Step, each creating a formation, is divided and arranged.

Nine-Palace Eight-Trigram Formation

The incantation says: “My left is Kui, my right is Piao. My right is Gui, my left is Piao. My top is Kui, my bottom is Piao. My bottom is Kui, my top is Piao. I hide myself within the midst of Three and Five, within the realm of Gui-Guan and Gui-Fu. I reverse the Three and Five, and I perform the Bu Gang Kui (Stepping the Kui Stars) with a low and high step to create my form. I wear the sun and the moon on my head, my feet tread on the Big Dipper, the Three Platforms, and the Seven Stars. The Five Stars cover me, the Twenty-Eight Constellations are arranged to protect me, and the Xuanji and Yuheng protect my form. I wear the Dipper and tread on the Dipper, with the same dignity as the Dipper itself. Now, I perform the Bu Gang with Three and Five to form the Bu Xuan and Nie Heng (Stepping on the Pivot and Treading the Balance) to seek good fortune. The Three and Five of the Purple Star are soaring, riding the Gang and controlling the Dipper, holding the righteous heavenly power. I will exist forever, shining with the sun and the moon. The five harms of the evil path are all suppressed. Under the Kui and Gang constellations, nothing can move or act. Hurry, hurry, as commanded by the law!”

Jade Maiden Reverse-Closing Formula

The Yin and Yang Dunjia (Escaping Technique) can close all eight directions so that there is no gate to exit. In that case, one must follow the Jade Maiden Reverse-Closing Formation to get out. This means if you have time, you use a gate. If you are in a hurry, you use a god. When entering a formation, or hiding, traveling far, meeting high-ranking officials, or taking up a new post, one must exit through the Heaven Gate and enter through the Earth Door, riding the Jade Maiden to travel, and no one will see you. The practitioner holds a knife in their right hand, holds their breath, and draws the formation on the ground. The formation is six feet in a room, six steps in a courtyard, and sixty feet outside the door. In the wilderness, it is two hundred and forty xun. The total length of the circle is always a multiple of six.

First, one holds six counting rods, each one foot two inches long, in the left hand. With the right hand, one holds a knife and exhales a mouthful of stale energy toward the prosperous direction, then inhales the prosperous energy and swallows it silently. One clenches the teeth seventy-two times and then prays silently for the matter at hand. Then, one turns their back to the prosperous energy and begins the prayer: “On this day, this month, this year, at this hour, I respectfully announce to the Heavenly Father and Earth Mother, the Six Jia and Six Ding, the Jade Maiden, and the Six Wu Hidden Form Gods, that I am fond of the art of immortality, and I do not choose the day for travel or inquire about the hour for departure. I now wish to do a certain matter, and I sincerely ask the gods of Heaven and Earth and the great gods of Ding Jia to follow the heavenly gates. I respectfully ask the Six Ding Jade Maiden True Monarch to draw the ground formation, to exit the Heaven Gate and enter the Earth Door, to close the Golden Dipper and ride the Jade Chariot. Jade Maiden, Green Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise, Gouteng, Tengshe, Liuhe, Six Jia Gods, God Kings and Generals, please ride with me. Today, I summon the Jade Maiden True Monarch to protect me as I enter the formation. Hurry, hurry, as commanded by the Nine Heaven Profound Maiden and Dao Mother Primordial Monarch!”

Incantation says: “My left is Kui, my right is Piao. My right is Kui, my left is Piao. My top is Kui, my bottom is Piao. My bottom is Kui, my top is Piao. I hide myself within the midst of Three and Five, within the realm of Gui-Guan and Gui-Fu. I reverse the Three and Five, and I perform the Bu Gang with a low and high step to create my form.

After the incantation, hold the rods in the left hand and the knife in the right, starting from the Gui (ghost) gate, and draw a circle to arrange the 4 directions, 8 trigrams, and 12 gods. On a Jia day, one enters the formation from the Jia position. On a Yi day, one enters from the Yi position, and so on for Bing, Ding, Geng, Xin, Ren, and Gui days. For a Wu day, one only enters from the Qian (Northwest) position. For a Ji day, one only enters from the Xun (Southeast) position. Holding the six rods, one prays to the four directions.

“I respectfully ask the Eastern Grand Minister, Great Chong, Heavenly Gang, Green Emperor Jia Yi Great Gods to descend to this formation and protect my body.”

“I respectfully ask the Southern Grand Yi, Victory Light, Little Auspice, Red Emperor Bing Ding Great Gods to descend to this formation and protect my body.”

“I respectfully ask the Western Transmission, From Kui, He Kui, White Emperor Geng Xin Great Gods to descend to this formation and protect my body.”

“I respectfully ask the Northern Dengming, Shenhou, Great Auspice, Black Emperor Ren Gui Great Gods to descend to this formation and protect my body.”

After completing the four-direction gods, one places the rods on the corresponding day of the week.

For example, on a Zi day:

Place the first rod on the Zi position.

The second rod on the Chou position.

The third rod on the Yin position.

The fourth rod on the Mao position.

The fifth rod on the Chen position.

The sixth rod on the Si position.

The Art says:

“The rat travels and loses its hole, entering the dog market.”

Move the first rod from Zi to Wu. Shout loudly: “The Eastern Green Dragon descends!”

“The ox enters the rabbit garden to eat sweet grass.”

Move the second rod from Chou to Mao. Shout loudly: “The Southern Vermilion Bird descends!”

“The fierce tiger wanders into the Si position.”

Move the third rod from Yin to Si. Shout loudly: “The Western Gouteng descends!”

“The rabbit enters the ox pen and stays down.”

Move the fourth rod from Mao to Chou. Shout loudly: “The Western White Tiger descends!”

“The dragon enters the horse’s stable and stays.”

Move the fifth rod from Chen to Wu. Shout loudly: “The Northern Black Tortoise descends!”

“The snake twists and turns, coming to the Shen quarter.”

Move the sixth rod from Si to Shen. Shout loudly: “The Eastern Liuhe descends!”

If it is a Wu day, one starts by placing the first rod on the Wu position.

“The horse enters the dragon spring to drink sweet water.”

Move the rod from Wu to Chen.

“The lamb exchanges its place to enter the You quarter.”

Move the rod from Wei to You.

“The ape jumps toward the pig.”

Move the rod from Shen to Hai.

“The chicken flies and lands in the sheep’s position.”

Move the rod from You to Wei.

“The dog enters the rat’s hole to catch its young.”

Move the rod from Xu to Zi.

“The pig enters the tiger’s den to throw itself to its death.”

Move the rod from Hai to Yin.

After the shouts, if two branches enclose one stem, the one that forms first is the Heaven Gate, and the one that forms afterward is the Earth Door. For example, on a Zi day, first take the rod from Chou to close the Heaven Gate, then take the rod from Shen to close the Earth Door. Head toward the Jade Maiden direction at Geng, and go one hundred and twenty steps without looking back. For a task, one shouts the Jade Maiden of the day three times, and recites the Jade Maiden incantation, or recites the Three Wonders incantation and then leaves. This brings great fortune. If a certain wonder is present, one recites the incantation for that wonder. If the Four Zhong (Four cardinal directions) Earth Door does not form, one can use the first rod to form the Earth Door on the Chong-Chen (Clash-Chen) position. One can also retreat a little and then leave.

The Twelve Formations of the Heaven Gate, Earth Door, and Jade Maiden Reverse-Closing Ritual

Hai day: Jia Heaven Gate, Bing Earth Door, Kun Jade Maiden. Take the rod from Xu to close the Heaven Gate, and the rod from Si to close the Earth Door.

For auspicious matters, exit the Earth Door, enter the Heaven Gate, and ride the Jade Maiden. Do not look back. For inauspicious matters, exit the Heaven Gate, enter the Earth Door, and ride the Jade Maiden. Do not look back.

For example, on a Zi day, Geng is the Jade Maiden, You are the Hua Gai (Splendid Canopy), Zi is the Green Dragon, Yi is the Earth Door, Bing is the Heaven Gate. The Six Ding Jade Maiden is a noble god of Heaven, unlike the Green Dragon, Mingtang, or Taiyin stars. When used according to the law, the results are miraculous.

The text says: “If the formation is not drawn, the gods are not summoned, and the rods are not chanted over, then the divine power will not be effective.”
