九天應元雷聲普化天尊
The Celestial Lord of the Nine Heavens Responding to the Origin and Universalizing the Thunder Sound (九天應元雷聲普化天尊) is an ancient and revered deity in Taoism, the Thunder Ancestor (雷祖). He is an incarnation of the Great Emperor of the South Pole of Long Life (南極長生大帝).
The Thunder Ancestor commands thunder and lightning and resides in the Residence of the Nine Heavens Responding to the Origin (九天應元府). He holds a golden luminous Ruyi scepter and sits on the Treasure Throne of Nine Phoenixes and Cinnabar Clouds, or he rides a fiery Qilin.
On the sixth day of every month and on Xin days within the ten-day cycle, he patrols the Three Realms, observing the good and evil deeds, merits, and demerits of all living beings, and drives out demons and evil spirits. The days in the seventh month of the lunar calendar when the Thunder Ancestor surveys all heavens and floats through the Three Realms are:
August 28, 2025, the sixth day of the seventh lunar month
August 30, 2025, Xinwei day
September 9, 2025, Sinsi day
September 19, 2025, Xinmao day
September 29, 2025, Xinchou day
The Celestial Lord said: “If in a future life, any living being hears my name and meditates on it in their heart, reciting ‘Celestial Lord of the Nine Heavens Responding to the Origin and Universalizing the Thunder Sound,’ whether once, five or seven times, or a thousand times, I will manifest in the ten directions and extend my heart throughout the Three Realms, so that all who invoke my name shall have their wishes granted.”
Therefore, for those who study the Tao and for followers of the religion, if they are able to recite the Celestial Lord’s sacred name, their merit will be boundless.

雷祖寶誥（普化寶誥）
志心皈命禮
九天應元府，無上玉清王。
化形而滿十方，談道而跏九鳳。
三十六天之上，閱寶笈，考瓊書。
千五百劫之先，位正真，權大化。
手舉金光如意，宣說玉樞寶經。
不順化作微塵，發號疾如風火。
以清靜心而弘大願，以智慧力而伏諸魔。
總司五雷，運心三界。
群生父，萬靈師。
大聖大慈，至皇至道。
九天應元雷聲普化天尊。
Zhì xīn guī mìng lǐ
Jiǔ tiān yìng yuán fǔ, wú shàng yù qīng wáng.
Huà xíng ér mǎn shí fāng, tán dào ér jiā jiǔ fèng.
Sān shí liù tiān zhī shàng, yuè bǎo jí, kǎo qióng shū.
Qiān wǔ bǎi jié zhī xiān, wèi zhèng zhēn, quán dà huà.
Shǒu jǔ jīn guāng rú yì, xuān shuō yù chū bǎo jīng.
Bù shùn huà zuò wēi chén, fā hào jí rú fēng huǒ.
Yǐ qīng jìng xīn ér hóng dà yuàn, yǐ zhì huì lì ér fú zhū mó.
Zǒng sī wǔ léi, yùn xīn sān jiè.
Qún shēng fù, wàn líng shī.
Dà shèng dà cí, zhì huáng zhì dào.
Jiǔ tiān yìng yuán léi shēng pǔ huà tiān zūn.

Sincerely Bowing to and Taking Refuge
In the Nine Heavens’ Answering Origin Mansion,
The Supreme King of Jade Purity.
Transforming and filling the ten directions,
Preaching the Tao while seated on nine phoenixes.
Above the thirty-six heavens,
He peruses precious scrolls and examines jade books.
Before one thousand and five hundred kalpas,
He held the position of the True and Correct,
Wielding authority over the Great Transformation.
Holding the Golden Light Ru Yi in his hand,
He proclaims the Precious Scripture of the Jade Pivotal.
Those who do not submit are turned into fine dust,
Issuing commands as swift as wind and fire.
With a pure and tranquil heart, he makes great vows,
With the power of wisdom, he subdues all demons.
He is the overall commander of the Five Thunders,
Operating his mind throughout the Three Realms.
The father of all beings, the teacher of ten thousand spirits.
Great Sage and Great Compassionate,
Utmost Sovereign and Utmost Tao.
